My Favorite Dinosaurs: Chasmosaurus

Here's my 27th favorite dinosaur! The Chasmosaurus, also known as the "opening lizard." Chasmosaurus, of course, was a ceratopsian dinosaur that lived in Alberta, Canada. It was originally going to be called Protorosaurus, but the name was already given to another animal. Fossils of this dinosaur are found in the Dinosaur Park Formation of the Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada, where two species are found in both the lower, middle, and upper beds. Chasmosaurus was a medium sized ceratopsian. Estimates shown this herbivore to be at 4.8 meters and 2 tons. Like most ceratopsian dinosaurs, Chasmosaurus had three horns on it's head, two above it's eyes and one on it's nose. To me, the most unique feature that Chasmosaurus has is it's frill. The frill was decorated with small osteoderms on the sides and two larger osteoderms on the top. Also like other ceratopsians, Chasmosaurus would have run ins with tyrannosaurs like Albertosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Ceratopsians and Tyrannosaurs are basically enemies that were bitter rivalries as evolution took it's course. Chasmosaurus is a favorite I didn't want to leave out.
