My Favorite Dinosaurs: Stegosaurus

Here's my twenty third favorite dinosaur! The Stegosaurus, or either the "roof lizard" or "covered lizard! A late Jurassic heavily built herbivore, the Stegosaurus was one of the most common found dinosaurs in the Morrison Formation, where three specimens were identified from over 80 individual finds. They were also proven to be found in not just North America, but Europe as well! Stegosaurus was one of the most recognizable dinosaurs due to it's name, it's plates, and the thagomizers(the four sharp spikes on it's tail). The plates were most likely there for display, they were believed to regulate the temperatures and keep the dinosaur either warm when it's cold or cool when it's hot. However, other beliefs were that the Stegosaurus could flush blood into these plates as a way to fend off a scary predator like an Allosaurus or a Ceratosaurus! The spikes on the end of it's tail were obviously this dinosaur's defense. Much like how an Ankylosaurus could swing it's club tail as defense, the Stegosaurus could do the same thing with it's spike tail. It's definitely a favorite I didn't want to leave out!
